The Stoughton Area Resource Team, Inc. (START) provides a safety net for those in crisis. Recently, a 30-year old single father of two struggled to find work, to pay for daycare for his children and to secure a home; so much time was spent homeless and hopeless.

Emergency Assistance

Emergency Assistance for those in need

This policy addresses the criteria for special outreach requests received outside of normal Grant request cycle. This special fund will hold an annual fund balance of $3,000.00 (three thousand dollars). Requests will be handled individually based on meeting Stoughton Area Community Foundation (SACF) criteria;
  • Project request must be received in writing with full explanation of request.
  • Group or individual making request must be a nonprofit organization.
  • Project request must benefit Stoughton area community.
  • Operate on the principle that no discrimination shall be practiced as to race, religion, age, sex, mental or physical challenge.
  • Requests to be considered under this policy will be received between November 1 and June 30, although projects considered “emergencies” will be considered.
  • Minimum project request is $100.00 (one hundred dollars).
  • Maximum project award is $500.00 (five hundred dollars).
  • Project request must receive 2/3 approval vote by SACF board.
